"Traces" is about a dream I had where I kept trying to see someone's face, but every time I went to turn them around to face me, it was their back again. It was very odd and frustrating, but it was visually very strong. So I wanted to transpose that feeling and visual into a song about two lovers who are doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again until it all falls apart. I was incredibly lucky to collaborate with the amazing Amp Live for the music on this track. His particular brand of strong and deep alt-hip hop beats allowed me to explore my version of R&B vocals, which was an awesome experience. Very happy with how it turned out!
